Authentication issue from different domain

Jun 21, 2010 at 4:58 AM

Just had a scenario whereby a client has a laptop that logs onto a domain that has no trust relationship with the domain that sharepoint sits in. User logs on to sharepoint fine but when using the homedrive webpart (Which is awesome) the credentials sent to the home drive server are those from the laptop logged onto the other domain not those from sharepoint ? Did I miss something in my setup or isnt sharepoint supposed to be sending the credentials to the home drive server ?

Hi, thanks for you interest in the web part.

Unfortunately, because the web part is accessing the file system, the only choice is to use the Windows Logged On user rather than the SharePoint user.  I believe the Page Viewer Web Part also works in the same way since it is essentially an Explorer Frame within the web page.

As a result, what you are seeing is functionality as currently designed.

Kind Regards

Hi Giles

Thanks for quick response, is there any way for it to popup and ask to reauthenticate when it fails similar to how windows explorer would ?
